On-Site With National-Purity, LLC
Chemical Week article
By Nancy Jeffries, Editor-in-Chief
Sean Spillane, President of National-Purity, LLC, of Minneapolis , MN spoke with Soap & Cosmetics magazine on-site at SDA's Annual Meeting on Wednesday, January 29. Mr. Spillane described a company whose 80-year history has successfully navigated the waters of the Jan/San (Janitorial and Sanitation products) world.
Sean Spillane is the second president of the company, having purchased the company from his father Jack, who ran the company with his stepmother Elva Walker Spillane. Jack and his wife bought the company in 1968, and Sean purchased it in May of 2002. Elva Walker Spillane was posthumously awarded the SDA's Distinguished Service Award last year for her meritorious contributions to and support of the industry.
According to Sean, the company has been thriving as a co-packer, which although casually referred to as a "small soaper" by Sean, has been making significant contributions to the manufacture, supply and distribution of such products as lubricants, disinfectants, agricultural products, animal health-related and any non-hazardous chemical compound products as well.
Essentially, National-Purity gets the work done that generally larger companies farm out to them. They in turn, make the products up for them according to the formulas desired by the larger companies. They follow the exact formulas and specifications provided by the companies for whom they are creating the products.
National-Purity's flexibility allows them to ship products back to the larger companies, or drop ship them directly to the customers, per the direction of the companies for whom they are doing the work. Although, according to Sean, National-Purity has very few of its own formulas, it works with the formulas of the big companies and has the flexibility to fill any size and type of container and turn the shipments around in a timely manner.
Spillane is pleased to report that the versatility and flexibility of their company continues to see them through an evolving and dynamic cleaning industry.
